Though it is primarily meant for pixel art, so the interface is less than ideal, and the program can have trouble with large canvas sizes and often gets laggy or crashes. Though it’s primarily used for pixel art, a friend of mine did use it for a time to create animations. And yes there is an online animation program as well called Piskel. Plus, it’s nice to be able to do everything for a project in one place. I know that as a young artist on my old account, I didn’t really have the means to download animation software like FireAlpaca since my computer was very slow and I wasn’t allowed to download anything. But you need to erase everything away that isn’t needed, which is very time consuming. And yes, you can duplicate the past costume.
Animated sprites can add a sort of polish to games in a way and make them more immersive. Even programmers could make good use of this feature. This doesn’t come at a loss of anything else. Onion skin is a basic animation feature that would take no time at all to implement. There are a host of animators and artists here, so new features should be added to address that. Scratch at this point is not just a website made for games. It’s kinda weird that there’s so many people who are so adamant that they don’t want this feature.
